Well, I did it again.
Yesterday, November 1, I skidded in just under the wire for Samhain, planting the last clove of garlic as the sun was setting.
I’d like to thank the time change for that. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciated the extra hour of sleep, but losing an hour of daylight in the evening can fuck right off.
If you remember my original garlic experiment, things didn’t exactly go according to plan. Between six-foot stinging nettles, questionable gardening decisions, and garlic bulbs that looked like they’d given up on life, I learned a few things.
Or at least I think I did.

Whether those monster cloves translate into bigger bulbs next summer remains to be seen. I can’t wait to find out.
I’ve got a postmortem brewing on what went right, what went wrong, and what I’m doing differently so I don’t fuck it up as badly this time.

Anyway, the garlic is in the ground, and that means round two is officially underway. All those cloves need a nap in their new bed, so I made sure to give them a beautiful maple comforter for the winter. They’re even sharing the bed with their neighbour, the strawberry plant.
